I have experienced a powerhouse content-provider lose sight of what they can offer to truly set them apart—the one thing they had that they could grow upon— CONTENT.
And the mistake is irreparable! Never has unique, personalized, vetted content been more of a necessity in today’s world of technology and human experience/decision-making.
When consumers are exposed to content that is perfectly targeted to them, but that content is not trying to CONNECT with them BEFORE they try and win their business or generate them as a lead, they move on. The opportunity and connection is lost.
So many CMO’s of major companies with major marketing dollars are ignoring this. They obsess over the technology and budget they can try and control and conquer and are left scratching their heads wondering what to do next or why their leads are not stronger.
For SMB’s, every dollar is a so crucial. It’s vital to understand that creating content and building a connection with audiences is worth at least 20% of your marketing budget for social media marketing. Creating a Facebook post with a sales offer and boosting it to a cold audience and asking them for their information in return isn’t going to help you build your brand.
